Doha: Lusail University (LU) is now an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) registration centre in Qatar after signing an agreement with the British Council in Doha.

The agreement provides test applicants with more opportunities and choices, as they will be able to choose among the different available test centres in Doha using the registration process.

LU Vice-President for Student Affairs Fatima Al Mesleh said that the agreement is a starting point to provide British Council IELTS testing opportunities and prepare students to join the bachelor and postgraduate programmes, whether at Lusail University or at other universities.

Meanwhile, Country Director British Council Qatar Sam Ayton disclosed, “The IELTS test is one of the most important tools for enrolling in higher education and entering into the labour market as well as helping to achieve excellence in one’s chosen professional and educational field. 

“We are very proud to be partnering with Lusail University as an exceptional addition to the list of licensed IELTS Registration Centre in Qatar.”

IELTS is an international standardised test to measure English language proficiency for non-native English language speakers, who wish to study or work in places using English language to communicate. 

It is one of the major English language tests in the world and is accredited by more than 10,000 organisations in 140 countries worldwide, including government, private and academic institutions.
