Lusail University Master's Students Complete Specialized Training Program in Geneva in Collaboration with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR)

Geneva, Switzerland A group of students from the Master of Arts in International Affairs and Public Policy program at Lusail University has successfully completed a specialized training program in Geneva, Switzerland, organized in collaboration with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). The program aimed to strengthen students' knowledge in sustainable development, geopolitical strategy, and international relations through a comprehensive academic and practical experience combining expert-led lectures with field visits to leading international institutions.

As part of the program, the students visited the World Trade Organization (WTO), where they gained valuable insights into the organization's role in regulating international trade, the functioning of global customs systems, and the importance of economic cooperation among nations. The visit enabled participants to connect the theoretical concepts studied in the classroom with real-world international practices.

The program also included a visit to the United Nations Office at Geneva, where students learned about the organization's pivotal role in promoting international dialogue, supporting peace efforts, and addressing global challenges. They were also introduced to the operational frameworks of various UN agencies and their contributions across multiple fields.

During the program, the students visited the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office at Geneva, where they met with Her Excellency Dr. Hend Al-Muftah, Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar. H.E. Dr. Al-Muftah provided an overview of Qatar's foreign policy priorities and highlighted the country's diplomatic efforts in fostering international cooperation. She also discussed several current regional and international issues, shared insights from her professional experience, and offered practical advice to help students prepare for careers in public policy, international relations, and diplomacy.

The training program also explored the growing intersection between artificial intelligence, public policy, and international security. In addition, participants examined how the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can be integrated into national and international policymaking to achieve a balance between economic growth, environmental protection, and social equity, underscoring the importance of embedding sustainability principles into decision-making processes at all levels.

The participating students described the program as a highly enriching academic experience that broadened their perspectives and deepened their understanding of contemporary international challenges. They emphasized that the opportunity to engage directly with international organizations and distinguished diplomatic figures had a significant positive impact on their academic development and future career aspirations.

This participation reflects Lusail University's commitment to providing its students with globally oriented educational opportunities and strengthening partnerships with leading international institutions. Through such initiatives, the University continues to prepare highly qualified graduates equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute effectively to addressing global challenges and building a more sustainable future.
