Lusail University Establishes Huawei ICT Academy to Develop Qatari Talent

Lusail University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Huawei, a leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices, to establish the Huawei ICT Academy on the Lusail University campus. This initiative aims to enhance the digital skills of the university's students in support of Qatar National Vision 2030. This collaboration will contribute to the development of the thriving technological ecosystem in Qatar and the wider Middle East region.

The MoU was signed by Professor Dr. Nitham Hindi, Lusail University Provost, and Zhao Liang, CEO of Huawei Gulf North, in the presence of vice presidents, deans from Lusail University, and other Huawei representatives. The Huawei ICT Academy, launched in 2013, contributes to nurturing talent, developing capabilities, and providing a workforce with the necessary efficiency to develop the technical sector. Through this initiative, Huawei provides education, certification, and job opportunities to students, fostering university-enterprise cooperation for the digital economy's growth.

The new academy is one of several long-term partnerships between Huawei and Qatari institutions to nurture digital skills among the country's youth. The company aims to train 10,000 students in Qatar over the next 3 years. Professor Dr. Nitham Hindi stated: "We are pleased to sign this agreement with Huawei, one of the leading companies in the field of technology. We look forward to a long-term agreement that benefits both parties, allowing Lusail University to provide high-quality education to professionals so they are competent in their fields and cover the needs of the labor market." Zhao Liang added that Huawei aims to contribute to the digitization efforts aspired to by Qatar National Vision 2030 by promoting the development of local competencies.
