His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri, Minister of Labor, inaugurated today the first Career Fair organized by Lusail University on November 8-9. The organization of this fair comes as an important step that bridges the academic sector and the labor market, with the participation of more than forty employers from various government and private sectors, and institutions operating in diverse fields including education, law firms, energy, industry, finance, and business.
The Career Fair, which coincided this year with the graduation of the first batch of Lusail University students, aims to provide a vital platform for students and graduates to explore available job opportunities in the labor market, learn about summer training opportunities, and benefit from academic sponsorship in various sectors. The fair is a unique opportunity for both employers and graduates, as it provides employers with the chance for direct interaction with students and graduates, enabling them to attract young talent and promising graduates. In return, the fair offers graduates and students a window into their professional future, allowing them to gain insights into available opportunities and labor market requirements, as well as build valuable professional relationships.
The two-day Career Fair included many awareness activities about the labor market, required specializations, and necessary skills, in addition to a CV corner aimed at helping students write an attractive resume for employers. In this regard, Ms. Taleela Thani Al-Kuwari, Director of Student Life Department at Lusail University, stated that the university pays special attention to the fair's effectiveness in its first edition 2023, especially as it coincides with the graduation of the first batch. She emphasized the university's keenness to complete the student's educational experience from admission through the academic journey to graduation and opening professional horizons.
It is worth noting that Lusail University is the first private national university established in 2020. It currently offers 15 undergraduate programs in various academic disciplines across 4 colleges: the College of Education and Arts, the College of Law, the College of Commerce and Business, and the College of Information Technology, in three languages: Arabic, English, and French. Additionally, it offers a Master of Science program in International Criminal Justice in cooperation with UNODC, and a Master of Arts program in International Affairs and Public Policy with UNITAR.
