His Excellency Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Thani, Minister of Culture, inaugurated yesterday morning the first edition of the "Lusail University Cultural Day" with the participation of 30 countries. The participating countries present various activities reflecting aspects of their customs, traditions, and cultural values, ranging from traditional costume displays to theatrical performances and cultural events expressing the cultural heritage and civilizational legacy of those countries.
In this context, Dr. Ghanem bin Mubarak Al-Ali, Assistant Undersecretary for Cultural Affairs at the Ministry of Culture, said: "The Ministry of Culture was keen to sponsor the first Cultural Day held at Lusail University, as it is a pillar for culture in its various fields." He expressed the Ministry's aspiration to build bridges of cooperation with various state entities, given its role in paying attention to the cultural aspect and working to highlight and communicate it to other societies. He pointed out that the Ministry focuses primarily on youth and educational institutions in the country, organizing many events such as the "University Poet" competition.
For her part, Ms. Fatima Al-Musleh, Vice President of Lusail University for Student Affairs, said that the university is committed to providing a diverse and inclusive environment for students, as the university includes approximately 70 different nationalities, whether from the Qatar Scholarships program or local students.
Ms. Taleela Al-Kuwari, Director of Student Life Department at the university, said: "Lusail University enjoys the advantage of cultural diversity among students; three years after its establishment, it includes a number of different nationalities." She added that the Cultural Day in its first edition is an opportunity for students to express their culture and identity and an affirmation and deepening of communication between peoples.
Lusail University Cultural Day is a vital meeting point within the movement of the cultural scene in the State of Qatar. It aims to expand students' cognitive horizons regarding each other's cultures, discover and refine their talents, as well as promote Gulf, Arab, and international civilizational and creative rapprochement.
