Lusail University Student Takes Part in the First Gulf Cybersecurity Hackathon

Alia Al-Bloushi, a student from the College of Information Technology at Lusail University, participated in the “First Gulf Cybersecurity Hackathon,” which aims to promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in cybersecurity across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The competition was organized under the supervision of the GCC Chief Information Security Officers, with the goal of encouraging youth to develop innovative solutions to cybersecurity challenges faced by both the public and private sectors. The hackathon also included workshops to prepare participants and support them in turning their ideas into executable projects.

Alia’s project focused on user behavior analysis using artificial intelligence to enhance cybersecurity. The project aims to detect potential threats by analyzing abnormal behavior patterns, reducing false alarms, and improving detection accuracy. It relies on real-time behavior monitoring using AI techniques, enabling organizations to quickly identify unusual activities and provide greater protection for sensitive data.

The student expressed her excitement about participating in the hackathon, saying:

"As a student at Lusail University, this experience has been extremely valuable; I developed my skills in analyzing user behavior using AI and learned how to work effectively in a team to create innovative solutions." She added that her participation gave her practical experience in developing projects that strengthen digital security, enhancing her future opportunities in this field. Alia was honored at the GCC level, being the sole participant representing Qatar.
