Back
1- A student who has completed 18 credit hours will receive an academic alert if the cumulative GPA is below 2.00 at the end of any semester (excluding summer). The Academic Advising will notify the student via email.
2- An academic alert does not affect the student’s academic standing and is not mentioned on the official transcript.
3- A student who has completed 30 credit hours will be placed on the First Academic Probation if the cumulative GPA is below 2.00 at the end of any semester (excluding summer). The Registration Unit will notify the student by the appropriate method.
4- If the student fails to raise the cumulative GPA to 2.00 by the end of the semester following the first probation (excluding summer), the student will be placed on the Second Academic Probation.
5- If the student fails to raise the cumulative GPA to 2.00 by the end of the semester following the second probation (excluding summer), the student will be dismissed from the university.
Appeal Mechanism
A student may submit a grade appeal to the Dean of the college to which the course belongs after reviewing with the course instructor if the student feels that the grade is unfair, provided the following conditions are met:
1- Review the course instructor within 10 days of grade posting.
2- Submit the appeal within 10 days of grade notification to the Dean of the College, with a completed appeal form.
3- The Dean will present the appeal to a college-level committee for recommendation. The Dean will respond to the student within 10 working days. The student may appeal the Dean’s decision to the Vice President for Student Affairs, who will review the procedural correctness.
