Major Transfer Policy

A student may change their major within the university provided that they have not completed more than 60 credit hours at Lusail University.

For a student who changes their major within the university, the courses previously completed will be counted if they are required in the study plan of the new major. These courses will remain on the student’s academic record with their grades, whether passed or failed, regardless of whether they are counted toward the new major, and such grades will be included in the calculation of the cumulative GPA.

The student must meet the language proficiency requirements of the program to which they are transferring:

English language proficiency
By obtaining a minimum score of 5.5 in the IELTS exam (or its equivalent).
Arabic language proficiency
Minimum 70% in Arabic in the secondary school certificate.
This applies if the applicant’s overall secondary school average is below 65% in the Qatari General Secondary Certificate or its equivalent (inside or outside Qatar) where Arabic is the language of instruction.

With regard to majors affiliated with the College of Information Technology, the student must meet the following requirements:

First: Required academic standing
Obtaining a minimum of 65% in the General Secondary Certificate; or obtaining a cumulative GPA of 2.5 and completing at least 15 credit hours.
Second: English language proficiency requirement
Obtaining a score of 5.5 in the IELTS test or its equivalent; or passing the English language placement test.
