The Encyclopedia of Qatari Civil Law is the first of its kind in the State of Qatar, comprising seven volumes related to civil law: Introduction to the Qatari Law, Sources of Obligation, Rules of Obligation, Principal Real Rights, Insurance Law, Explanation of Labor Law, and Civil and Commercial Contracts. The first volume, Introduction to the Qatari Law, serves as an introduction to the study of Qatari law by explaining fundamental legal terminology related to the general theories of law and rights. It highlights the relationship between law and other social norms, outlines the sources and application of law, provides an overview of the Qatari judicial system, and defines the concept of rights, their types, elements, and sources. The second volume, Sources of Obligation, presents a comprehensive study of the general theory of obligations in Qatari civil law, covering both voluntary and involuntary sources of obligation. It also offers a practical comparison between Qatari legal provisions and those of other Arab and foreign legal systems, alongside a review of relevant rulings from the Qatari Court of Cassation. The third volume, Rules of Obligation, provides an in-depth examination of the rules governing obligations in Qatari civil law, focusing on their execution, characteristics, transfer, and termination. It compares legal texts with those of other legal systems and presents relevant rulings from the Qatari Court of Cassation. The fourth volume, Principal Real Rights, discusses real property rights in Qatari civil law, with a focus on the right of ownership and its associated real rights. It also addresses special legislation and judicial rulings issued by Qatari and Arab courts. The fifth volume, Insurance Law, explores the technical and legal aspects of the insurance industry in Qatar, covering the fundamentals and key elements of insurance. It reviews the legal provisions governing insurance contracts in Qatari law, comparing them with Arab and foreign legislation, while highlighting judicial applications from the Qatari Court of Cassation and other supreme courts. The sixth volume, Explanation of Labor Law, provides a detailed analysis of Qatari labor law, covering general provisions, individual employment relationships, and the rights and obligations of both workers and employers. It also examines labor organizations, dispute resolution mechanisms, and includes relevant rulings from the Qatari Court of Cassation along with comparative judicial applications. Lastly, the seventh volume, Civil and Commercial Contracts, presents an analysis of civil and commercial contracts, focusing on three specific contracts: sale, lease, and contracting. It explains their nature, formation, legal effects, and termination. Additionally, it compares Qatari legal provisions with those of other jurisdictions and presents relevant Qatari judicial rulings concerning the application of these contracts.
